Umbral are creatures that were affected by the Black Eclipse, an event where the sun passed behind The Hanging Star. Those at a certain location during this event, people and monsters included, were permanently altered as such. New generations seem to share and lose the curse at random. During night, Umbrals can become very difficult to see. Physical features of the umbral include pale skin, slightly pointed ears, and a black marking of differing design somewhere on the face. Umbral seem naturally drawn to caves and other dark areas.
